Our Vision
Curious what ‘Real Love. Real Change. For All.’ looks like in everyday life? We invite you to watch these sermons and explore how this vision is shaping our community.
Real Love
Matthew 22:34–40
When Jesus was asked about the greatest commandment, he answered: love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. Real love is the heart of the gospel. Following Jesus means practicing compassion, mercy, and kindness in ways that reflect God’s love for every person.
Real Change
Matthew 28:16-20
Before ascending to heaven, Jesus sent his followers into the world to make disciples, baptize, and teach. Real change happens as we follow Christ’s call—growing in faith, learning to live his teachings, and helping others discover a life transformed by God’s grace.
For All
John 3:1-17
Jesus tells Nicodemus that God loved the world so deeply that God sent the Son so that all might experience new life. God’s love is not limited to a few—it is for the whole world. We seek to be a community where everyone is welcomed, valued, and invited to grow in faith together.
Our Core Values
Love
John 13:34-35
We believe love is the clearest expression of the Gospel. Jesus calls us to love one another as he loved us—across differences, disagreements, and divisions.
Integrity
Micah 6:8
At THUMC, faith is more than words. We strive to live honestly, act justly, and align our lives with the teachings of Christ.
Community
Acts 2:42-47
Faith is meant to be lived together. We cultivate authentic relationships where people belong, grow, and support one another.
Service
Mark 10:45
Jesus came not be be served, but to serve. We follow his example by caring for our neighbors and working for justice in our community.
Prayer
Philippians 4:6-7
Prayer keeps us rooted in God’s presence. Through prayer we listen, discern, and receive the courage to live faithfully.
What We Believe
Triune God
Love is the clearest expression of the Gospel. The Triune God—Creator, Jesus the Redeemer, and Sustainer Spirit—calls us to love one another as God loves us—across differences and disagreements.
Matthew 28:18-20The Bible is Inspired
We believe the Bible is inspired by God and guides our faith and life. While we do not read it as literal or error-free in every detail, we trust it reveals God’s truth and points us to Jesus, who shows us how to live faithfully.
2 Timothy 3:16-17God’s grace meets us where we are. The Beatitudes begin with the word makarios—often translated “blessed”—reminding us that we don’t have to have it all together or stand up perfectly to encounter God. God’s love meets us in our humility, brokenness, and need, and it is through that encounter that we are lifted, strengthened, and transformed to live faithfully.
Matthew 5:3-12Grace is Central
Everyone Belongs
We affirm the full inclusion of LGBTQ+ people and all who seek to follow Christ. God’s love embraces all people equally, and the church is called to reflect that radical inclusion. We welcome everyone to belong, grow, and serve, knowing that in God’s eyes, all are one.
Galatians 3:28Faith Leads to Justice
Following Jesus calls us to more than personal devotion—it calls us to live justly in the world. Faith engages the needs of our community, cares for the vulnerable, and seeks to dismantle oppression. Through acts of justice, mercy, and compassion, we reflect God’s love and help make God’s kingdom visible.
Isaiah 1:17Romans 12:2Community Transformed
Church is a place where God’s love shapes our lives. People grow in faith, learn to live as God calls them, discover their gifts, and engage with the wider community. Through worship, service, and prayer, we participate together in God’s work to renew the world.
